Hello From Amaya Video Productions.
(Kalisa's Cabaret videos are presently being aired on the World of Dance Theater program at: Access Monterey Peninsula channel 24, Tues- 3:pm, Thurs- 9:pm and Sat- 7:am.)
For the later-half of the century, Kalisa Moore provided a venue for entertainers at the La Ida Cafe/Cabaret. This is the same cafe of Steinbeck's novel, Cannery Row. Kalisa personally entertained Steinbeck and was instrumental in preserving the historical status of the building. An estimated 50 shows will be donated to the Cannery Row Foundation.
After the building was sold in 2007, the La Ida Cafe' was remodeled and the upstairs cabaret is no longer there. This is our last view of the cabaret as it appeared in February 2007.
The last few years of Kalisa's Cabaret featured star dancers of the Monterey Bay and their students. Individual performances are viewable on YouTube.com/kalisascabaret which are accessible through the videos to your right.
A few of these videos were filmed at the American Legion ball room where she continued producing the cabaret for a while.
Kalisa Moore now produces the 'Live TV' net series 'Cannery Row Memories' at 774 Wave Street Studios on Cannery Row, which the public is welcome to attend.
Kalisa and I feel the shows should be made available to dancers who were part of the experience with a small donation to help with costs.
